The project aims to develop and sustain cross-border tourism by preserving cultural and natural heritage while expanding infrastructure for active tourism. The consortium carries out developments in two key locations: Tallós and Pannonhalma.
In Tallós, the partial renovation of the Esterházy Castle will restore one of the most significant late Baroque buildings in the Felvidék region. The main wing’s grand hall and dining room will be refurbished, with the hall serving as a venue for cultural events, concerts, and weddings, while the dining room will host an interactive exhibition. The castle’s roof will undergo complete reconstruction. Additional features include a tourist information point, a gift shop, and a charging station for cyclists. The partial restoration of the courtyard and park will enhance visitor experiences by introducing family-friendly services.
In Pannonhalma, the over 1,000-year-old Benedictine Archabbey will see cultural and tourism-focused improvements that enhance visitor experience while preserving its religious and artistic heritage. The project includes the renewal of the Várkör’s dendrobotanical environment, the installation of new seating areas, lighting fixtures, directional and informational signs, and the construction of a bicycle storage facility. An online ticketing system will be introduced, along with a new outdoor playground for children and adults, further enriching the abbey’s recreational offerings.
IThe consortium’s developments contribute to the competitiveness and sustainability of cross-border tourism, fostering cultural heritage preservation, increasing visitor numbers, and enhancing active tourism infrastructure.
