The CROSS-IP project aims to increase the attractiveness of the Slovak–Hungarian Ipoly region and to improve the conditions for active and sustainable tourism. Through small-scale but strategically important investments, the project fills service gaps along planned cycling, water and hiking routes, contributing to the region’s economic revitalisation.
The project focuses on three key development points:
In Szécsény–Benczúrfalva, the lead partner SBS Marketing Kft. will create a small active tour centre as a welcoming gateway to the region. It will offer e-bike rental, rest areas for cyclists, guided tours, local product sales, and multifunctional community and event spaces. New transport vehicles will support smooth, multimodal travel during tours.
In Varsány, the municipality will renovate a long-vacant former agricultural cooperative office into bike-friendly youth and pilgrim accommodation, serving as a starting point for exploring Tábi Lake and its surroundings.
In Bušince (SK), the municipality will expand its existing water sports base with a four-pitch caravan park located in the courtyard of a former border guard barracks. A special trailer and an off-road vehicle will support the connection of various active tourism modes across the border.
These developments will broaden and improve the tourism offer in the CROSS-IP region, providing visitors with a more complete, comfortable, and environmentally conscious experience. In the long term, the project will enhance the region’s competitiveness and strengthen cross-border cooperation.
