The Danube Boat project aims to boost the active tourism of the destination defined in the TAP – primarily cycling tourism – and to leverage the potential of the Danube’s branch system, targeted at water tourism and related developments, focusing on the Little Danube, Danube, and Moson Danube regions.

The area affected by the project includes Monsonmagyaróvár and Halászi along the Moson Danube, Dunakiliti and Kisbodak along the Danube and Jelka near the Small Danube. The choice of location is based not only on its natural and geographical features, but also the strategic importance of the cross-border interconnection of existing tourism infrastructure. The project seeks to capitalise on the popularity of kayaking and canoeing, encouraging more people to explore the natural and cultural beauty of the area through paddling, as well as cycling tourism. As a result, the expected outcomes include an increase in the region’s visitor numbers, strengthening of the local economy, and promotion of water tourism.
The project’s key activities include the renovation of the Allersdorfer Mill’s ground floor and the Gabona waterfront in Mosonmagyaróvár, serving water tourists while also indirectly benefiting cyclists, hikers, and residents; the expansion of the equipment stock of the Party Csárda Leisure Park in Halászi in response to identified needs; the development of a waterfront community space in Dunakiliti (bathing area, fishing pier, playground, equipment storage, bicycle service point) which is suitable as a resting place for water tourists and cyclists and as a community venue for local residents. On the outskirts of Kisbodak the development of a community area (mobile sanitary containers, a wastewater tank, bicycle storage and service point) to ensure that it can be used by a broader audience and for a wider range of activities; near the water mill in Jelka a modern and eco-friendly sanitary facility will be installed, which will improve the quality of services at one of the region’s most visited tourist sites.

The project’s outcomes include improving infrastructure for water tourists, increasing safety, enhancing the quality of life for local residents, promoting local and cross-border tourism, boosting local tourism services, and making environmentally friendly transportation more accessible. Collectively, these improvements will contribute to the objectives of the Territorial Action Plan and together will increase the overall appeal of the destination.
