Priority Axis 2 – Social cooperations

Specific objective 2.1 – Enhancing access to quality employment through developing social infrastructure and promoting social economy

In both Slovakia and Hungary, the most disadvantaged regions often face high unemployment rates. Our goal is to address this issue by creating a network of job pools, small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and cross-border functional urban areas. We aim to support joint projects that specifically target populations at risk of poverty or social exclusion across the border.

Action 2.1.1 – Social innovations for disadvantaged and vulnerable groups

Expected date of the call for proposals is 2025.

Specific objective 2.2 – Improving equal access to inclusive and quality services in education

Education is the key for development. This objective aims to ensure equal access to educational opportunities through joint projects in remote areas that lack the infrastructure and skills needed for digital and remote learning, particularly in vocational training, to support upward social mobility.

Action 2.2.1 – Inclusive and quality education

Expected date of the call for proposals is 2025.

Specific objective 2.3 – Ensuring equal access to health care

Another important area for joint action is the shared use of healthcare resources across the border. This includes creating platforms that enable cross-border movement and operations of ambulances, supporting joint surveys, strategies, and action plans, and investing in healthcare equipment, telemedicine, and e-health infrastructure. We also focus on exchanging expertise and building capacities together.

Action 2.3.1 – Family and community-based health care services

Action 2.3.2 – Cross-border development of healthcare institutions

Expected date of the call for proposals is 2025.

Specific objective 2.4. – Enhancing the role of culture and sustainable tourism in economic development

The border region is rich in historical and local heritage sites, featuring monuments, castles, museums, and sacred landmarks. With a steady flow of visitors staying overnight, there is significant potential to further strengthen regional cohesion by developing joint cross-border tourist destinations.

Action 2.4.1 – Preservation of local heritage

Action 2.4.2 – Complex development of tourism destinations

The calls for proposals for these themes were closed in 2023 and 2024. See our funded projects within this theme.
