The name of the Esterházy family has been associated with literature, art, music and culture for centuries not only in Hungary and Slovakia, but in Central Europe as well. Art, culture and economy ensured cultural and economic prosperity of the region. Although the Esterházy family is divided into three branches, the fee tail ensured that properties could not be sold and remained in the ownership of the dynasty for centuries. The Esterházy castles and mansions remained an important venues of cultural life. Two cities (Tata and Galanta), two built heritage sites serve the basis of cooperation, the aim of which is to renovate a built Esterházy heritage in each of the two locations, and fill these locations with cultural content. The Renaissance Castle built around 1600 by Ferenc Esterházy will be renovated in Galanta. The latest reconstruction of the castle was completed in 1992. In the framework of the project the entire facade of the building will be renovated, the lightning distribution systems will be reconstructed, the sanitation infrastructure will be developed, the moisture will be removed in the basement and the interior of the wedding hall will be redesigned. There will be an educational trail that will serve to present the history of the Esterházy family in Galanta, Želiezovce and Tata. Tata has already renovated a significant part of its built Esterházy heritage. Tata is planning the restoration of monuments that can be found in the English park of Tata. The park was commissioned by the Esterházy family in 1783. Monuments affected by the restoration are: Artificial Ruins, Turkish Mosque, two winged griffins at the entrance of the park, Saint John of Nepomuk statue and the bridge, English park entrance gates in Hattyúliget street and the in Sport street. In addition to the infrastructural investment, the main objective is to deepen the cooperation between the project partners and organize cultural events to promote the Esterházy heritage. Concerts and Esterházy picnic are planned to become a tradition held regularly the partner towns. The main objective of the project is to make the built Esterházy heritage visible in international environment.
