The two partners – building owners – have the primary objective of renovating the properties and creating a contemporary gallery and cultural centre.
In Vác, the building, which is classified as a local heritage site, was probably built in the early twentieth century. The central location of the property allowed it to develop its cultural function in the 1980s. In 2012, the municipality of Vác, with the help of art collector László Papp, reopened the building and the private collection was permanently on display. Despite its outdated state, the building has become one of the most popular cultural venues in the city.
As the owner, our primary goal is to restore the building to its former glory, to serve a public cultural purpose, but also to meet the requirements of today’s times, and to make it one of the most important open exhibition spaces and community venues in Vác.
The 800 m2 building of the old health centre in Šahy was built before 1928.
In 2005, when the health care providers moved out of the building, it was vacated and disconnected from public utilities. The building is not usable in its current state.
Our primary goal is to renovate the building and build an art school in it. Inside the building will be a modern dance hall, rehearsal and training rooms with appropriate equipment. Overall, we want to lay the foundations for a cultural centre by renovating the building. The establishment of the art school is the first phase of the cultural centre. Outside the school, an outdoor stage and an exhibition hall will be built as part of the project. In the near future (beyond the scope of the project), the cultural centre will also include a covered outdoor stage and a concert hall.
Šahy and Vác are twin towns, and this project will further strengthen this link. The connection of the framework of the project promises a number of joint events: lectures, thematic temporary exhibitions, concerts, workshops and the presentation of the works of the famous painters of the Danube bend to the people of Šahy. The collection on display will be used to organise educational lectures in Šahy.
