The aim of the project is to increase the resistance of the region to the adverse effects of climate change and to increase the capacity of cross-border risk management in the border regions of the Banskobystrica Region and the Novohradská County by improving the coordination and reaction capabilities of volunteer fire and rescue organizations involved in risk management on both sides of the country border.

During 24 months, we plan to implement the activities of creating the structure of the regional coordination center for education and use of technical equipment of the DHZ (Volunteer Fire Brigade) within the entire region, procurement of new material and technical equipment for the volunteer firefighting units of the involved partners, organizing events for mutual learning and increasing the expertise of volunteers rescue units and public awareness of the importance of their work and preventive measures.

Through these activities, we will improve the coordination of joint procedures, increase the professional level of volunteers, increase the mutual awareness of volunteers and the public on how to solve and prevent disaster risks, and improve the coordination of the deployment of our professional and technical capacities of rescue teams, thereby achieving a more effective and faster response-ability and thus increasing preparedness and the effectiveness of intervention units in the event of natural disasters.

Result of the activities will be improved personnel planning, cooperation and coordination of volunteers of the fire and rescue services of the border regions, the provision of material and technical equipment necessary for more effective interventions in serious crisis situations caused by windstorms, floods or fires, increased awareness of the importance of preventive measures and the work of volunteers fire and rescue services intervening in solving and preventing crisis situations caused by changing climatic conditions and unconscious behavior of people.
