The CB partnership emphasizes the preservation of the Somoskő and Salgó castles values and their surroundings through cultural heritage tourism, increases their integration into social life, strengthens local identity with the achievement of an increase in the number of visits to local values through their new functions built by the project. The partnership will cover archaeolog. and historical research, conservation and preservation of cult.-historical values, presentation of literary and historical personalities connecting castles, dilapidated indust. heritage, which are part of the local heritage between two castles and with great local importance. The project directly affects the border area, aiming at greater tourist use of heritage, with value-based, coordinated, mutually reinforcing functions, by strengthening the identity of the local population, increasing the visitor rate and competitiveness of the territory. Investments are made in highly protected natural areas, carefully approaching protected values, integrating them into education, raising awareness of them and offering them in a complete package. It is essential that investments follow concerted plans, building on each other through the experience/knowledge. The project’s investments include sites in critical conditions, arising from local needs with the involvement of volunteers. The project will build the following new functions: LA/SMJV, restoration of rest areas and springs, Petőfi promenade, named after literary and historical figures with local ties, educat-method. materials that will lead the visitor to Somoskő. With an emphasis on changing the attitude towards the environment and preserving values, Š.Bukovinka will contribute by preserving the state of Somoskő Castle (bastion and entrance gate) and placing of educat-informat. boards on local values, history with the latest research data, to the preservation of industr. heritage values. The DBM will present the environment of the castle to general and professional public with planned archaeological research at Salgó Castle, with fresh data collection, which, in addition to the professional conference associated with the exhibition, docum. film, publications.
