The general objective of the Small Project Fund is to strengthen cross-border social cohesion via supporting cooperation on a local level, developing and improving long-term cooperation between cross-border actors, and supporting local/regional small projects. Small projects generally involve the organisation of joint festivals, camps, youth meetings, cultural and sporting events, professional events, study tours, cultural exchanges, and events encouraging bilingualism, which facilitate building mutual trust and provide a space for people-to-people (“P2P”) interactions. Their intention is to mediate mutual contact between people living on opposite sides of the border. The initiative is expected to bring further new cross-border partnerships and contribute to building mutual trust between municipalities, public institutions, NGOs, economic operators and citizens, with an overall value of nearly 6,45 million euros.
